Lack of insurance coverage penalties
The penalty for not buying health insurance in Massachusetts could soon quadruple to $912 a year, the Boston Globe reports.The state is considering increasing the maximum penalty for not buying insurance to persuade those who can afford it, but still havenโt bought coverage, to comply.ย
What I can’t figure out isย what they will do with theย fine money. Why not use it to purchase health insurance? If you can force a person to pay a fine, why not convert it to payย the premium and solve the problem going forward?
